Tory Opens 12 Point Lead in Toronto

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 1069 Toronto voters, 4-in-10 will vote John Tory (40%), while fewer than 3-in-10 will vote Rob Ford (28%).

Liberal lead tightens further

4-in-10 will vote for the Liberals if the election were held today (40%), stable from the same proportion who said this last month (August 20 - 41%). The Conservatives attract the vote of one third (34%) and this is a very slight increase from last month (32%).

Jobs and growth most important issue in campaign

Matt Brown with highest approval

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 737 London, Ontario voters, among the three quarters who are aware of him (74%), Matt Brown has approval from 7-in-10 (70%).

Majority approve of Iraq deployment

The majority (54%) approve of Prime Minister Harper's decision to send about 100 Canadian troops to Iraq to act as advisors in the conflict with ISIS. Four-in-ten disapprove (40%) and few don't have an opinion (7%).

Bundled Programming Preferred to ' Pick and Pay'

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 1202 cable subscribers across Canada, one half prefer the current model of cable TV pricing, where channels are sold in 'bundles' (48%), while one third prefer a model similar to the CRTC's proposed 'Pick and Pay' system (33%).

Matt Brown with lead for mayor, Paul Cheng in 2nd

One third will vote for Matt Brown (32%) in the municipal election of October 27, while one fifth will vote Paul Cheng (19%). No other candidate polls in the double digits (Joe Swan - 9%, Roger Caranci - 8%, Arnon Kaplansky - 1%).

Guthrie leads race for Guelph mayor

Well more than a third will vote for Cam Guthrie in the municipal election of October 27 (36%), compared to one fifth who will vote to re-elect Mayor Karen Farbridge (21%). Jason Blokhuis attracts less than a twentieth of the vote (4%) and no other candidate gets a significant vote share.

Very few untouched by cancer

As many as 9-in-10 Canadians have been closely touched by cancer (92% in total), either as a close family member of someone who had died of cancer (35%) or of someone who has had cancer and survived (26%), followed by those who have had cancer themselves (10%).

Narrow approval for women topless at beaches

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 931 Toronto voters, narrowly more approve of the idea of women going topless at Toronto's beaches (46%) than disapprove (41%), while one tenth have no opinion on this critical issue (13%).
