Over 40% Believe Ontario Doctors Should be Paid More

Toronto, February 23rd – In a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among 1,120 Ontario voters, (42%) believe that the provincial government should pay Ontario doctors more. (32%) say no, they shouldn’t be paid more, and (26%) don’t know.

Support for more pay

Those most likely to believe in more pay for doctors include those between 35-44 (45%), 45-54 (48%), 55-64 (47%), and females (44%), as well the least educated (45%) or those with a college or university degree (45%).

Those with high incomes $80,000-$100,000 (46%) and $100,000-$250,000 (46%) and current Progressive Conservative supporters (46%) are also likely to support paying Ontario doctors more.

Against more pay

Those who are most likely to want to see Ontario doctor’s pay not rise include those with graduate degrees (44%).


“The ongoing dispute between the provincial government and Ontario doctors is by no means a simple one, and there are many issues in play, but when it comes to pay it’s clear: a plurality of Ontarians believe doctors deserve a raise,” said Dr. Lorne Bozinoff, President of Forum Research.
