December 8th, 2015 - In a random sampling of public opinion taken by
The Forum Poll™ among 1369 adult Canadians, one tenth have already donated
money or goods to refugee relief (9%), and a further one quarter plan to do so
in the future (23%). About one tenth support the refugees but don’t plan to
give (13%), and more than half do not support refugee settlement (55%).
total, about one twentieth have volunteered their time to refugee relief (5%),
and a further one fifth plans to (20%). A quarter supports the refugees but
won’t volunteer (24%) and more than a half do not explicitly support the
refugee resettlement plan (52%).
“These results show that it has become easier
to donate money than it has to spend your own time, which is more valuable.
Nonetheless, the levels of promised support for the resettlement effort are
encouraging,” said Forum Research President, Dr. Lorne Bozinoff.
